Br. David Allen, OSB Ordained to the Diaconate
Br. David Allen, OSB, of Rosemount, Minnesota, a monk of Saint John’s Abbey, was ordained deacon by Bishop Patrick Neary, CSC, bishop of St. Cloud, on August 19th in Saint John’s Abbey and University Church.

Born in St. Paul to Tom and Shannon Allen, Br. David (36) has an older sister, Patty Capkin (Sean), and a younger sister, Megan Dierberger (William). David attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and Rosemount High School, which led him to Saint John’s University. Upon graduation as a Theology and Environmental Studies major, Br. David served one year as a member of the Benedictine Volunteer Corp in Chile with the Manquehue Apostolic Movement, a lay Benedictine community.
As a Deacon, Br. David will serve in the Harvest of Hope Area Catholic Community while preparing for priesthood ordination.
Br. David enjoys a variety of hobbies and interests. Hiking, cooking, following Johnnie athletics and the NBA, working jigsaw puzzles, being around dogs, and celebrating his Irish heritage make him especially happy.
