Fr. Don's Daily Reflection - April 17, 2021

Psalm 62: “In you alone is my soul at rest. My help comes from you.”

Besides times that try our souls, there are, I think, questions that try our souls and our patience. Unmarried people in their twenties or thirties must get tired of hearing questions about why they are still single. Young couples married a year or two often get worn down by questions about whether or how many children they have. Both wish at times for a bit more space, freedom from queries, patience, maybe even less concern from others about their lives.

“We're still working on having kids. We've started seeing a reproductive endocrinologist to improve our chances. The greatest difficulty with our problem is the lack of understanding by many of our friends, family, society. Too many say all too easily, 'Why don't you adopt?' It's not that simple.” Possibly our common suffering from the virus will bring us to a more sympathetic neighborliness to all our fellow human beings.

Psalm 27: “I believe I shall see the Lord’s goodness / in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord; be strong; / be stouthearted, and wait for the Lord!”
