Lenten Retreat for Latino Families at Saint John’s Abbey

On Saturday, March 29, 2025, the Benedictine monks of St. John's Abbey offered and implemented a spiritual retreat for Latino families at St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota.  The retreat began at 8:00 a.m. and was attended by men and women, along with their children over the age of 7.

S John's Abbey monks are committed to assisting these Latino immigrant brothers and sisters. We prayed with them and shared the Word of God in spiritual conferences and the celebration of the Eucharist. Fathers John Klassen, Greg Miller, and Efrain Rosado, along with Brothers John Hanson and Jonathan Olivan led these activities.

80 Latinos attended this retreat from different towns in central Minnesota, including Wilmar, Melrose, Cold Spring, Rockville, and Morris. At the end of the retreat, we received very positive feedback, such as the fact that all participants felt welcomed and even told us they looked forward to more activities of this kind. They also expressed their joy at having Spanish-speaking priests and monks who attend to their spiritual needs and share their faith.
