Summer Monastic Retreat 2025
Invited by Abbot Douglas, Fr. Konrad Schaefer, OSB of Mount Angel Abbey, directed this past week the annual summer retreat for the monks of Saint John's Abbey. Fr. Konrad is known internationally as one who has given many talks and written a number of books on the psalms, which echo the tenors of community life and worship as they project the scope of the human drama from lament to praise. Fr. Konrad's retreat began with the "Prologue of the Rule of Saint Benedict" and related it to several psalms in a down-to-earth manner.
