Fr. Don's Daily Reflection

Psalm 62: “In you alone is my soul at rest. My help comes from you.”

Anxious, disoriented, depressed, worried, upset, uncertain, perplexed, restless, frightened, we feel that all normal relationships have been disrupted. When will things return to normal? How long will this last?

My own case is this: I live with 16 other retired members of the Abbey, and we are quarantined. We cannot leave the floor, and visitors cannot come onto this floor. (There is, of course, faithful staff.)

I find that repeating what follows helps calm my anxiety, my worries, my impatience. It is from Psalm 62:

Loving God, in you alone is my soul at rest; my help comes from you.

Be free to address God in whatever way you are comfortable.

My Lord, God, father in heaven, my mother, Jesus, dear Jesus, dear Lord, all merciful God, all compassionate God, my strength, my Savior, etc.

Loving God, in you alone is my soul at rest; my help comes from you.

Loving God, in you alone is my soul at rest; my help comes from you.”
